If you enjoy gardens, indulging in home-made cakes and browsing through plants and local produce, how about visiting ‘Holme for Gardens’, a garden centre near our Dorset B&B.
Holme for Gardens is 2 miles from us and is more than just a typical garden centre.
It is special because it includes a beautiful, landscaped garden to explore, relax and enjoy.
In July, after seeing some photos which our guests had taken, My Mum and I were keen to explore the landscaped gardens for ourselves, especially the wildflowers in the Flower Field. These intricately shaped swathes of annual flowers show off between June and October.
Another feature of the garden, appropriately named after the famous ‘Stonehenge’ is ‘Holme Henge’, which is a stone circle formed from local 2-ton Purbeck stone monoliths.
The Amphitheatre was constructed in 2018. Outdoor concerts and plays are performed here, and films are shown.
The Orchard Café is set within the heart of Holme for Gardens and has wonderful views across the large, landscaped pond serving refreshments including delicious Dorset cream tea, locally brewed beer, and Dorset cider.
Holme Farm Shop stocks a wide range of produce, much of it sourced from Dorset and the South West. They aim to support local producers and farmers where possible.
Finally, there is The Garden Centre itself. Here you can browse plants as well as purchase cards and gifts, amongst other things.

A visit there as part of your stay with us at our Wareham B&B, is recommended. My Mum and I will be visiting there again very soon!
