Guest Friendly Covid Information

Rest assured, in light of recent government measures announced on Monday 22nd February, to confirm a reservation at Spurwing Guest House, we have taken the decision not to take any deposits.

The Spurwing Guest House is doing everything possible to ensure health and safety practices and due diligence is executed at all times during this unprecedented Covid period. It prides itself on excellent levels of cleanliness and we can reassure you that it will continue to maintain these high standards.

We have been awarded the ‘We’re Good to Go’ accreditation by Visit England based on our approach to Covid 19 safety, as well as the AA Covid 19 Confident Certificate whereby we submitted our Covid- specific risk assessment for social distancing and safety measures, and demonstrated that we are following industry and government guidelines.

Below is an overview of the procedures we have put in place and also specific terms for COVID-19:

All areas of the house will continue to be cleaned daily to required standards and guest rooms will be deep cleaned and sanitised after each stay. Touch points will be thoroughly disinfected and soft furnishings steam cleaned.

To protect both guests and ourselves, we won’t be doing room tidies for stays of less than 5 nights, except for a daily removal of waste and to clean tea cups (unless requested not to).

On meeting and greeting social distancing will be adhered to and we have hand sanitiser available in all the rooms, in the breakfast room and at both entrances to the guest house.

Following government guidelines, we require all guests to wear face coverings when in the public areas in the guest house, with the exception of when seated at a table in the breakfast room.

As part of the government’s coordinated response to Coronavirus, we also have the NHS Test and Trace QR Code displayed in our hallway.

Breakfast will be served possibly at staggered times subject to occupancy in our breakfast room and will be kept to individual parties as much as possible to ensure that there is no cross contamination with other guests and ourselves, and enable better social distancing.

In our breakfast room, each guest room will have their own individual breakfast buffet tray with a selection of cereals, fresh fruit, fruit yoghurts, jam and marmalade. Steph and Richard will happily serve tea, coffee, fruit juice and toast. Our delicious full English breakfast can be pre ordered beforehand.

Prearranged take away meals can be eaten in our breakfast room or in the garden. We kindly ask that they are not eaten in the rooms.

We have two bedrooms called the Spoonbill Room and the Dartford Warbler Room which have a shared private entrance. They are joined but separate from the main house. It would be possible to accommodate a family of six between the two rooms without coming into contact with any other guests.

Once a booking has been made, our digital ‘Spurwing Guest Information Book’ will be sent to you by email. Restaurants and local attractions are listed in there with links to websites to plan your visit as many places require pre booking.

We want to give you peace of mind so you can relax and enjoy your stay, however if you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email and we will be more than happy to help.

COVID-19 TERMS

As per government guidelines, please do not travel if you or any other of your party has COVID 19 symptoms or if you have been told to self isolate. If you are unfortunate to have the symptoms before arrival date and you need to cancel your booking please let us know as soon as possible. We can offer to move you to another day, subject to availability.

If Government measures lead to any changes to your booking reservation, we will be in touch soon afterwards to rearrange your booking.

If you develop COVID 19 symptoms during your stay with us please let us know immediately. As per government guidelines, you will be required to leave the guest house and return home. We will take payment for the period you have stayed and refund the remainder.

If we have a guest staying who has symptoms of COVID 19, following their departure we will shut the room for 72 hours.

If you have to self isolate within 14 days of leaving the guest house, please let us know immediately, therefore we can manage communications to anyone who has a future booking.

To ensure contact tracing, we will ask all guests to complete the guest registration form on arrival and we will retain your contact details on our booking system.

We will inform you immediately if any of our family living in the guest house has had to self isolate within 2 weeks of your arrival date.

If we have to cancel your booking because a family member living in the guest house has had to self isolate, we will try to find you suitable alternative accommodation locally.
